One-Trip (OT) Shipping Container

All “new” shipping containers sold in North America are known as one-trip containers, meaning they have only been used once. These containers are typically manufactured overseas. After fabrication, they are loaded with goods at the factory and shipped directly to the United States as part of the global supply chain.

Shipping containers are in constant demand and are primarily used as durable packaging for transported goods. The cost of shipping is largely offset by the imported products themselves, which allows these one-trip containers to arrive at a significantly reduced transportation cost.

Having completed just a single overseas journey of roughly 8,000 miles, one-trip containers arrive in excellent condition. While the exterior may show minor cosmetic marks such as small scratches or dents from handling and transport, the structural integrity and overall appearance remain near-new. For customers who value both durability and appearance, one-trip containers offer the best balance of quality and condition.

Wind and Water Tight (WWT) Shipping Container

Often referred to as A-grade containers, these units are an ideal option for budget-conscious buyers seeking reliable storage solutions. Typically between 12 and 15 years old, they have been retired from active service by shipping lines and leasing companies after years of international cargo transport.

As expected from their history, these containers show visible signs of use, including dents, scratches, surface rust, and worn flooring. Some units may also feature professionally repaired sections in the walls. Each container is thoroughly inspected at the depot to ensure it is wind and watertight, meaning there are no holes and the doors seal properly to protect contents from the elements.

While these containers are no longer certified for overseas cargo shipping, they remain well suited for home storage, construction projects, and local transport needs. All wind and watertight containers have passed structural inspections confirming their integrity — a critical requirement, as they are often stacked up to eight units high at depot facilities.

They offer a dependable and cost-effective solution for many applications.

Cargo Worthy Shipping Container

If you plan to ship a container overseas to any destination outside of the United States, a Cargo Worthy container is required. Also referred to as Sea Worthy, these containers are used units that remain structurally sound and are typically between 8 and 15 years old.

Before export, shipping lines require each container to be inspected and certified by a qualified surveyor to confirm it meets international transport standards.

Currently, container connections does not offer any cargo worthy shipping containers.
